But the reason why I still wear a wig even though I am getting a divorce, is this (an explanation I had heard given to someone many years ago...not knowing I would need it now) : When you take upon your self a Mitzvah (good deed) and you keep to it, you can not abandon it, just because you want to. It is something that you have now sworn to do and must stick with it. However as a foot note, there are many people who get heteriam (permission) from their individual Rabbi's to remove their wig..there is no general heter (permission) and each case is determined according to the individuals circumstance.
